  • We MAY move to Texas!! :)

Okay, so I've been putting the bug in the husbsters ear, for a while now, about moving to Texas. He's, obviously, not a fan of Texas. He thinks it's too big and... I won't even get into the very offensive comments he's made about the state. laughing

Anyway, tonight I continued my, "wouldn't texas be great?" stories, and he picks up the phone and calls our friends we do have out in Texas. That's right, we actually know people in Texas, not that I want to live super close to them. winky They do have kids, though, so that would be nice for Bri. Anywhoo, he tells them that I've been putting the bug in his ear to move to Texas and they, of course, were excited. They've been trying to talk us into it, for a while. (They are in Spring Branch?)

My husbands comment was as follows,

"Well, the wife wants to move to Texas and if we want a happy family, we have to have a happy wife"

    BAHAHAHA.

    laughing

Boy, have I trained him or WHAT?

    *evel snicker*

So, he's actually going to look for jobs and such. I guess I would have to, too.

I just don't feel like a Michigan girl, anymore. I want to start over somewhere new. That said, of course, I will miss my Michigan Family like no other. What will I be like without my sister? Been there once, and it was hard, but.... I just want a BIG change. I'm feeling very adventurous, lately.

I just am happy that he's ACTUALLY considering it!

    *girly squeals*

    Awesome!

*Side note, who thinks I need to change my profile pic? Yeah, the close up eye just may drive me crazy! lol"

  •          Texas is the bee's knees. I lived in San Antonio for two years. It was awesome. Except for the fact that I was there with my now ex-wife. That sucked. But the fishing was great, and the carne asada tacos were muy bueno!

  • That's 4 1/2 hours south of me!  So it would suck that you'd be so far, but hey - a few times a year we could meet up!  (Unless you move to the DFW area where there are a TON of businesses & such, thereby upping the chances of getting a job.)

I just hope your hubby means it.  My dad used to say things to appease me or my mom all the time to get us to quit talking about it.  GRRR.

    That would be awesome Megan!

  • @MyTwoCentss - I've been telling him about that area.

Yeah, we'll see what happens. It would be nice...

  • Oh & about your profile pic.  It's artistic!    Is that a pic you found too or you?

And you know, I was scared of moving to TX myself.  Bigger bugs & bugs you don't find in the mid-west.  Haven't seen any of what I was expecting though, so that is good.

I also remember hating the idea of TX years before the possibility of moving here happened - all because I didn't want to be around any hillbilly cowboys.  *lol*  The DFW area has less of those though because so many people in DFW are "transplants" who didn't grow up here & just relocated for the jobs.

What kind of work do you do?  Your husband?  (Just out of curiosity.)

  • @MyTwoCentss - If you want to, look it up on Mapquest - how far are you from Sturgis, MI?  (My mom's family lives there so I'm curious.)

  • @MyTwoCentss - It's my eye. I took the pic today. For some reason, I thought I wanted a picture of my eyes, but the one eye looked the best, lol.

*I'll mapquest in just a minute*

My husband, right now, is a home health aide type thing. I think you can find that type of work anywhere, plus he was able to take a meds class and everything. Me, however, I've only been an apartment manager. I wouldn't mind finding a position doing that, but it's been so long and... I don't know. Other than that, I... haven't done anything, nor do I have any schooling under my belt that would really count, lol. Yeah.

  • @MyTwoCentss - According to mapquest, it's 2 hours and 46 minutes away. I see that it's just past and under kalamazoo and we've gone out there and I have family out there. 2-3 hours sounds about right.

  • @Megabyyte - Cool.  Well, hopefully the next time I'm up in IN, you'll be in TX.  If not, perhaps we could find a halfway point & meet up.    (My parents are 2 hours south of Sturgis, in IN.)  Sturgis would almost be the halfway point though.  *lol*

  • @MyTwoCentss - Yeah, we'll have to do that. I told my hubby about you and how it would be cool to be friends and actually meet and what not. He told our friends that's why I was wanting to move, too. lol

  • @Megabyyte - Don't feel bad.  I don't have any valid school under my belt either.  I had my CDA (Child Development Associate) for working daycare but that (like a teacher's license) has annual requirements & so shortly after I got it we moved & then I became a SAHM.  So $250 down the drain but I'm proud that I got it.

  • @Megabyyte - *lol*  Well, the weather is a plus!  Seriously, we were walking around without jackets halfway through the day today!  The 50's are nicer here than back home.  It's crazy & I STILL tell Jim I am loving living in TX.    So remind him of how many nice days we have in TX & how much more outdoor family time that means!

Sitting out roasting marshmallows over the fire pit!  S'mores!

  • @MyTwoCentss - Sounds lovely. We're having an interesting winter, this year. I could have spent the whole day outside, yesterday, because it was so nice. And that never happens in Feb. lol.

That would be nice! Question, do you guys get lots of tornadoes?

My husband just asked me if I heard Will, our friend, about how they live 4 hours or so From Dallas. Anyway, I said, "Yeah, so we can live near Dallas, so I can see kim and then we can drive and see them whenever.. you know" LOL. And he goes, "No, I'm not going to live in Dallas"

    lol.

Somewhere outside of it or... I don't know. He's just not a city person, I guess. Well, we'll still be a heck of a lot closer than we are now, haha!

Also, big bugs? lol. Yikes. I hate big bugs. I mean, living in Vegas, we had cockroaches and..*shudders*.

  • @Megabyyte - I haven't seen big cockroaches but I have a friend from the birth board who lives in NM & they have them over there (and they're not dirty).

There were some tornadoes that were in the area last year.  Although they were about 10-15 miles from me.  Although I've lived in IN & OH and we had them there too.  So it's not different here than there in my 2 1/2 year experience.

We're an hour away from Dallas.  Jim doesn't like big cities either.  He would LOVE to live on acres & acres of land.  *lol*  I want to be 10-15 min from a theater & restaurants.  *hehe*

We live not far from the Speedway actually.  It's a mix of country & rural out here.  Not city like, in my opinion.  Yet we're not too far from the city IF we wanted to go there (which Jim often doesn't).  Oh & I found out today that the Ft. Worth zoo is one of the top 5 in the country!  So that's good!  There's a LegoLand, an aquarium & a railroad museum out here too.  (I'm sure there's more but that's all I know of.)  I've never been, but the Stockyards are supposed to be some place people go too.  And then 45 minutes away in Arlington is a Six Flags.  We've not gone  yet but hope to soon.  Plus a Six Flags waterpark out there.  In Roanoke the just opened a small water park.  Although across the street from there is a park with a tennis court, basketball court, soccer field, bike path circling it all, a picnic area (covered) and a splash down pad (so water equipment that the kids run through & interact with, it's neat) and since it's a public park that is free.

  • @MyTwoCentss - It sounds really nice, there!  Thanks for telling me all of this!

  • Move to Texas, already.

    Michigan.... *shivers*  blech....
