  • Diet Pop

My mom just shared with me such a funny story, ahahaha.

My aunt said the other day that she wants to teach me how to drink diet pop. She seems to think that It would help me lose weight. winky

Now, this is funny for a couple reasons.

    1. I AM losing weight. I've lost over 10 lbs just in the last two weeks, thank you very much. silly

and, 2., I don't DRINK pop ALL THE TIME. We don't have it in the house for a reason. I'm talking the regular stuff. You know, the decent stuff that doesn't leave a HORRID after taste in your mouth. Yeah, that stuff. I've cut it, mostly, out of my diet, but I still enjoy it from time to time. That's the best way to do things, don't ya know.

    *facepalm*.

So, no thank you, I'm not going to drink a bunch of aspartame. If I want a coke, I'll have a coke.  And I'll still lose weight.

    My aunt is freaking hilarious.

    silly

And though I can laugh this off... It still kinda pisses me off.

I'm sure you know what I mean.

    Ah, well...

  • Yeah, I heard diet soda is worse for you than the regular soda.

  • I was actually just at walgreens yesterday buying some stuff, and the guy in front of me had a cart full off diet pepsi.  He was enormous, and I imagine the diet pepsi played a part in it.

  • I was telling a friend of mine who was once large, then lost a ton of weight, then gained it all back, that the habit of drinking soda (diet or not) is probably tied to other unhealthy habits like being sedentary or eating junk food. Not necessarily, but I'd say it's more likely. Someone who is really concerned with losing weight is going to be drinking water or tea or something that has dietary value, and indulging in a real soda now and then to treat themselves.

  • Lol. Regular or diet pop it's still pop. Has to be consumed in moderation. I cut soda completely out of my diet years ago.  I don't  buy it and we don't really eat out. We go out on rare or special occasions and then I order water or tea. No soda. I order off the light menus and make sure to ask them to put any sauce or dressings on the side. Anything extra or packed on calories I have them remove or set to the side. If I have a soda its generally 7-up or sprite but usually only when I'm sick. You can still drink soda, just tell yourself you'll only drink it 1-2 a week and then keep track of portions. If you write down what you take in, it helps to make you more aware of what you are consuming and helps you want to take in less :) but you don't ever really want to think of it as dieting. Rather just part of a life change. It only works if you are consistent :)

  • My husband has type 2 (though it may have become type 1) diabetes.  So he kinda has to drink the diet stuff for his blood sugar.  We got used to the flavor after a while.  Although I will say that the best is Coke Zero or Diet Dr. Pepper.

For me, I don't care which it is (not that I've gotten used to most diet flavors).  Though I don't drink much I drink it daily - my husband is a pop-a-holic!  A fiend!  For me, I only drink it at dinner. Even then, I might get a total of 12 ounces.  Might.  Jim drinks it too fast for me to get my "half" of it.  *lol*  Which is fine.

I'd say stick to your guns.  Sounds like you're doing fine.

  • I like that she says she wants to teach you to drink it. as in, it sounds like she thinks you don't know how to to put the can to your mouth and drink it lol.

  • @MyTwoCentss - I don't have diabetes but I am pretty sensitive to sugar so I drink the diet stuff too.

  • @galadrielspitcher - lol, I know, right?  Is there a special way to drink the stuff that you can't do with the regular?  *hehe*

  • I guess this info is totally unique.home page
