  • Where should we move?!?!

So, I thought that I'd ask all you wonderful people where we should move too. You can explain why your neck of the woods is so great and why we would like it. silly

A little background info, for ya.

We're currently in Michigan. I was born and raised here, so I don't mind it. However, my hubster was born and raised and lived out west, for most of his life. He really doesn't like it. In fact, he hates it here, haha. He says it's too cold, but yet he's mentioned moving to Montana or Colorado.

    whatevah

He also would LOVE to live in New Mexico. I'm not a huge fan of that. But....

We've lived in Nevada, Las Vegas, to be exact, for a few years. He wouldn't mind moving back to Nevada, just not to Vegas. I don't agree, haha.

    And, also, a few exceptions.

He said no to Texas. He thinks Texas is too big. wtf *lol*  I think Texas would be great. People from Texas seem so awesome! winky *I'm open minded*

And 100% no to California. I ain't no Cali girl and earthquakes scare the crap out of me, so no thanks. *I'm not open minded*

Every other place is up for grabs. So what do you think?

My favorites would be, you know, Tennessee, Arizona, Colorado, Utah... But, I'm open minded. So, help me decide! haha

*And, no, we're really not considering moving at this time, just a thought process we've had for a while. Obviously, Michigan isn't where we're meant to put our roots down, so it's not like we'll be here forever. We will move, sometime. We would need, you know, money and all, so it'll have to wait. Just wanted to have some fun with this, so on with it! silly*

  • I live in Pennsylvania and I think it's nice here. We have Gettysburg and other neat places. But my family wants to eventually move, too. As much as I love PA, it's time for a change. We want to move to South Carolina.

I also think it'd be nice to live in North Carolina.

  • So since you're not planning to move any time in the near future, there IS time to work on changing his mind about Texas.
What does he mean TX is too big?!  *lol*  Umm, the US is bigger than TX & the world is bigger than the US!  Then the universe is bigger than the world.  Sooooo......yeah.  I don't get that.
I was dead set against TX years ago as well.  Why?  Because I didn't like snakes, scorpions, tumbleweeds, cowboys or country music.  *lol*  I DO see men wear cowboy hats (and I always point it out to Jim & laugh, I'm so immature like that ) here but it's not an overwhelming amount.
When we had the choice between NJ or TX (Jim's job had locations in only those two states for his position) - it was easily TX for me.  *lol*  And him.  He grew up in SoCal actually so it's funny you're against CA.  I lived there 10 months and never felt an earthquake.  (HA!  I originally typed "earthquack"!)  Anyway, I LOVED it there.  If it wasn't for all the raging liberals & the overinflated prices of everything (housing mostly) there, I'd be really, REALLY wanting to go back.

So yeah - I vote TX.  DFW to be exact.  LOTS of job opportunities with two cities like that near each other.    So no reason NOT to move here.

  • Michigan?  MICHIGAN!?!  Had I known that I never would have allowed you on my friends list!!!  scUM!  Go Bucks!

Seriously, I would pick something with mountains, and plenty of outdoor activities.  But that's just me.  I'm a small-town type of person who loves the outdoors.  Not a fan of the city.  Don't care for crowds, noise or hustle and bustle.

I lived in New Mexico for 3 years.  Didn't like it.  But, I was young and single then.  Of course, I was way south in New Mexico, stationed there in the Air Force.  Looking back on it now, I probably would enjoy it, as I've changed so much since then.  You've got deserts, mountains, plains, lakes, etc.  Northern New Mexico would be one to pick if you do that.

  • Kentucky is a nice place. We have fairly temperate weather, and there is a mix of mountains and farmland. I've lived in small towns and big cities in this state, and I like that you aren't really too far from a larger city unless you move to Western Kentucky. The humidity can be a bummer in the summer, but I love the sultry heat. And coming from Michigan, you would probably make fun of us when it snows because the entire city forgets how to drive and the stores are out of bread and milk.

  • My husband and I just moved to TX this summer.  We chose to move for better weather and better opportunities.
TX is big.  That means it's not all the same.  We moved from KS and I would have refused to move to northern or western TX.  It's just like KS.  Dry, flat, windy, and in the winter, still cold.  (Not Michigan cold.)
We live in the Houston area.  It's hot and humid in the summer, but the rest of the year it's nice.  We're close to the ocean, hill country, lots of lakes.  Many things to do and we're happy we made the move.  I agree that people in TX are nice.  We've made lots of friends so fast.
